About Grind & Pull

Grind & Pull is an independent publication about espresso gear and technique. We write practical, hype-free guides: how to dial in a shot, how to fix sour or bitter espresso, what the gear actually does, and what's worth your money.

How we research

Grind & Pull is a research publication, not a test lab, and we don’t pretend otherwise. Each guide is built the same way:

Specs, verified. Pump, boiler, dimensions, and heat-up claims are checked against the manufacturer’s spec sheet and manual — and against the marketing, which often disagrees.

Expert reviews, cross-checked. We read the independent reviewers who bench-test espresso gear, and only repeat a performance claim when multiple credible sources agree.

Owner reports, at scale. Long-term reliability judgments come from thousands of owner reports and community threads — what breaks, what clogs, and what gets returned.

Trade-offs, published. Every recommendation lists cons next to pros. No brand can pay for placement or a better ranking, and no guide accepts sponsored positions.

How we make money

Grind & Pull is reader-supported. When you buy through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission from the retailer — at no extra cost to you. Commissions never influence our recommendations: if a product is bad, we say so, and if the cheap option wins, the cheap option wins.

Editorial independence

We don't take sponsored placements or sell rankings. Every guide is written to answer the question we'd want answered ourselves, with concrete numbers, real products, and honest trade-offs.
